The point is that you are using an attackers clothing as a tool to take him out with a power slam. This is not, however, a self-defense move you can walk up to an angry guy and use. To work right he must be off guard.

Now that you understand a little better the type of situation this self-defense move is designed for lets dig into the details of this power slam.

Open With A Distraction Technique

There are several great distraction moves you can use to make sure he is off guard in order to perform the power slam. Here are a few quick examples. A quick look over his shoulder like something is coming. This may distract him for long enough to take hold of him and sweep the leg.

Another examples is to simply hold your hands up in front of you and pretend to be submissive while he yells in your face, then when you are close enough take hold of his clothing and sweep the leg.

This fight moves works really well if the attacker is wearing a loose baggy sweatshirt, but it can be used in other situations as well. In the best case scenario you’ll want to obscure his vision by raising his baggy clothing over his face.

This is not absolutely necessary but will prevent him from knowing you are about to sweep his leg. If the attacker is much larger than you this power slam technique can still work, you just might not be able to cover his face. Either way his clothing is a great tool to use against him.

[dfads params='groups=292&limit=1&orderby=random']

Sweep Their Legs

The foot work on this move is pretty simple. In the video above you can see that you want to step in with your outside foot, get firmly planted close to him (this gives you stability), then hook and sweep his outside foot with your inside foot.

To make this fight move work you must drive him backwards while sweeping the leg. If you push him back first then wait to sweep the leg he’ll stumble backwards and you’ll miss the leg.

There are dozens more variation on this type of quick and easy takedown, best of all they are all designed to take down bigger men. As you saw in the video Mike’s assistant (the little guy) is a full head shorter that the attacker and still made this fight move look easy.

As a long time high profile personal security expert and bouncer in some of the most dangerous clubs in the southwest Mike Serr knows exactly how to take down bigger men and train new bouncers.

Best of all his techniques are designed to take out belligerent and drugged up attackers quickly and quietly (VIPs don’t like footage of their guards making a scene ending up on the nightly news).

Click here for more explosive fighting training by Mike Serr!

End The Fight Before It Even Begins This self-defense technique is great when the situation has not yet escalated to a fight but you realize a fight is going to happen whether you like it or not.
