It's got an extended cab and an 8-foot bed, so it was a real beast to maneuver into tight places.\n\nTurns out, (as I later discovered) I was accidentally <\/em>blocking the exit path for folks who wanted to drive passed my gas pump.\n\nI wasn't even unaware of the problem -- until a couple of big dudes in a beat-up Datsun pulled up right next to me and started screaming obscenities.\n\nWhoa. I had NO idea what was going on or what it was all about, but I immediately checked to see if they had any visible weapons (they didn\u2019t)\u2026\n\n\u2026and then I calmly reached for something that was strapped on my side...\n\n\u2026 my beeper.<\/em>\n\nOkay\u2026 it wasn\u2019t really a beeper, it was pepper spray<\/strong> purposely designed to LOOK like a beeper.<\/em>\n\nThe angry morons eventually backed up and peeled off, (not sure why they didn\u2019t just ask me to move my truck like any other sane people would have done), so thankfully there was no bloodshed and I didn't have to mace anyone.\n\nBut it was a significant moment.\n\nEven though I\u2019m just 5\u20199\u201d and 165 pounds, I was able to remain confident, clear-headed, and unafraid,<\/em><\/strong> knowing that I could have easily stopped either one of these goons, even both of them, if things would have escalated.\n\nAnd that\u2019s my point. When possible, stop an opponent from a distance.<\/em><\/strong>\n\nIf you can avoid engaging in an actual hands-on struggle, it'll be much safer for you and your family. But instead of using a gun, or a stick, or throwing rocks, (all viable options)\u2026\n\n\u2026 pepper spray<\/em> allows you stop a threat from a distance without resorting to deadly means.
