A Warrior Conditioning Challenge by Mark Hatmaker

A Warrior Conditioning Challenge: Bodylocks/Rough & Tumble/Sit-Outs

This brief burner will allow you to groove old-school strong, three modes of striking, and two rounds of hot and heavy ground movement.

Part 1

Grab your heaviest sandbag, heavy bag, or throwing dummy.

  • Body lock it and take it for a 50 yard carry. Do not put it on your shoulder, you must remain in body lock grip while walking.
  • Rest 30 seconds.
  • Repeat 10x.

Part 2

Use a 3-minute round/1-minute rest protocol on the next 5 rounds.

  • Round 1: Bang the bag H-A-R-D wearing 16oz gloves. Power-Power-Power!
  • Round 2: Continuous Sit-Out & Turn-In Drill with Partner or Solo. [Do not stop!]
  • Round 3: Bang the bag wearing work gloves or driving gloves. No bag gloves. No wraps. Aim for speed, precision, and tempering unprotected power.
  • Round 4: Continuous Sit-Out & Turn-Out Drill with Partner or Solo. [Do not stop!]
  • Round 5: Back on the bag. Lose all gloves and every closed hand strike you can conjure that DOES NOT involve using the surface of the fist.

Note: On all of these bang hard, bang fast, bang often!

  1. I like the drill, sounds great, will try it, except, don’t know what a ‘Continuous Sit-Out & Turn-Out Drill with Partner or Solo, ” is, would have liked an articulation of what that exactly is. But. I’ll find out and try this routine.

Thank you, plus I’m going to look stote of Mark Hatmaker’s videos.

  2. At 77 years old, I still do what I can do to stay in condition. Here is what I do.
    1. I walk a mile four times a week. Keeping up endurance might allow me to walk away from a problem to a hiding location.
    2. stretch my back and do three deep knee bends four times a week.
    3. Pump iron 15 minutes to keep posture good and have punching power.
    4. Hit heavy bag with fist and elbows for three minutes.
This may seem like next to nothing to a young man, but for me it is all I can do without experiencing pain in my joints. I can assure you of this. You do not want to catch an elbow or a tummy punch from me. You sent me a cane and that is perfect for me. I practice those hits low on the leg then a swat down on the head. That street thug will be going down. I will walk away. No running at this age.
    5. I practice with a pistol once a month. I do a shooting competition called rimfire steel. It is fun and practical. Prior to getting into this competition I did not even hold the pistol correctly.

  3. I love these muscle building techniques. Using a stretch band also helps while punching the bag for resistance, which has been giving me nice results with stamina, power and speed. Thx!
