My Wife Thinks I’m Crazy for Doing This…

Am I losing my mind?

Maybe… But I sure as hell never want to be caught without a knife. That’s why I recently started carrying two of them, every day. Why two knives you ask? Here are just a few reasons:

For Everyday Use

Pocket Knives

First, I use a knife every day for utility purposes. By carrying knives with different sizes and blade shapes it’s more likely that I will have a better tool for the job. I can also carry one knife that is my “beater” (The one I don’t hesitate to get muddy, sticky, or greasy).

For Self-Defense

Next, in a self-defense situation you never know if the knife kept on your dominant side will be inaccessible. Perhaps an attacker has you pinned against a wall, has control of your arm, etc.

Also, if forced to stab an attacker, it is very possible the knife will be difficult to recover, a grisly thought but it is a real problem (Muscles tend to clench around the blade). If there is a second attacker you’ll be glad you brought a backup.

Self-Defense Situation Number 3 (okay, my overactive imagination is probably the real reason my wife thinks I’m crazy): Carrying blades on different portions of the body can be an advantage if you are taken to the ground. This is a great reason to carry a boot knife. I can keep going with the self-defense scenarios but I think you get the point.

As a Survival Tool

A knife is also one of the two most critical survival tools we have (a fire source being the second). As the old saying goes “Two is one, and one is none.” You can expect that if the SHTF you’d immediately drop your one and only knife into a mud hole, or it would fall out of a pocket in the dark. A backup is just common sense.

Okay, you can see that there are a lot of good reasons to carry two knives. Even so, some people may question my logic by saying that if this were the case we may as well carry two of everything—two sets of keys, two wallets, two cell phones, etc.

Here’s the Thing

It’s possible for us to take preparation to such an extreme that it becomes impossible to lead a normal life. The difference, especially with knives, is the relative ease of carrying two. With so many knives on the market it is easy to find a backup that is inconspicuous, small, and comfortable. What I’m trying to say is that the downside is so small and the upside so large that it’s simply a no-brainer, at least for me.

World's Fastest Drawing Knife.

You wanna try out the fastest drawing knife on the planet? Good. Because here's your chance to get it for FREE.

It even comes with a video showing you exactly how to draw this folder from your pocket (one-handed) so that it snaps open and is ready for action in the blink of an eye. (Your buddies are going to be sooo freaked out when they see this).

  1. I always carry one knife. Sometimes 2 or 3. I have a lot of different ones. My wife thinks I’m crazy too.

  2. I carry the two knives I bought from you I wear the try 5n1 and also the 325s tactical and on my side on my belt my ka-bar . The two I bought from you I have one in my front pocket and one in my rear pocket. My belt ka-bar is a fixed blade 51/2 inch. Also I keep a taser and my ruger sr9c under the front seat of my truck. I don’t worry about things too much.

  3. I almost always have 2 knives on me and my wife has thought that I’m crazy for the last 28 years.

  4. Bob, you lunatic, lol

I too always carry 2 knives, a Leatherman pocket tool on belt and small Swiss Army in my pocket (all the tools necessary).

For PP I pack Sig 9mm, never can be to careful or prepared.

  5. Dear Wife of Bob: He always makes sense to a guy. Making girl sense is much more difficult to master. I’ve never had an attacker tell me ahead of time just how he was going to come at me. Maybe because I have not ask him. Right. For this reason I always carry three knives.
One large Bowie Knife which is in plain sight and that is how I want it to be. It serves a good purpose to have it seen. a) the size might give him a second thought about getting in to a fight with 10 inches. As a lessor thought, he may think that if I got that for a knife I probably do not have another. But I do on my other side of the belt quite out of plain site. And just for kicks, one more inside my boot. This makes me feel good all over with a higher chance of coming home to my beautiful wife. So I hope I have helped you see the smarts in your husband. He just wants to be able to come home to you with no holes in him.

  6. I’ve always carried a pocket knife. Now I carry several. On the reservation I can’t carry a fixed blade longer than 3 inches, but my big folders are legal. I also carry 2 tactical pens and a TRS Spike. I’m not paranoid, folks here are great and no one is out to get me. I’m just prepared in case anything does go South.

  7. You are far from being crazy. I carry up to four knives all the time. I think you ate crazy if you don’t.

  8. Not crazy a caution to the wind, in order to get home one must be prepared for the invite sine as well as the unsuspected.

  9. I have 2 knives that I got from you. I also have 2 flash lights. I think with some things you need 2 you always carry a back up.. I also have 2 power packs for my phone if the battery runs low. I have 2 of several things in my survival kit also.

  10. Not crazy a caution to the wind, in order to get home one must be prepared for the unexpected as well as the unsubspected to which we prepare for, those that get in our way. Peace

  11. Bob, you’re smart to think that way. It’s also handy to keep a pepper spray in your pants’ pocket and a tactical pen in your shirt pocket, or if you’re wearing a teeshirt or pocket-less shirt, then ‘the spike’ underneath the shirt hung round the neck. Thanks a million for all the great gear and brilliant advice.

  12. Hi Bob , Absolutely not I myself carry one in each boot ,one on my side and one in my pants pocket. So no sir in this day and time better to be safe than sorry. And thanks Bob thank you for all you do.
    Sincerely ,John

  13. I guess a lot of our “obsessions” are based upon our past experiences. I am a former JKD and Eskrima practitioner, and those disciplines opened my eyes to the realities of practical self-defense. I almost always carry a knife, more for self-defense than any kind of craftsmanlike needs. But my life has been remarkably peaceful. I know that that could change, but I don’t feel constantly menaced by the “hopped-up goons” I am supposed to worry about. I have been advised that, if I am serious, I should always carry a firearm… but I don’t want to. If you have faced violent occurrences in your life, or if you are a black-ops killer. by all means, hide weapons all over your body. Do what you gotta do.

  14. I look at pictures such as this, and think…………you need a few more; maybe some really nasty looking tactical knives! Keep adding pal!! 😉

  15. Actually, I wear a knife belt along with a Gerber Gator on the belt. The best belt I have ever owned. Also, I carry a tactical pen ( Amazing and very deadly ) as well as having a pepper spray canister on my key chain. I also carry in my pocket one of those orange small container sling shots ( shoots about anything over 400 feet per second ). It works great! Having all that and it’s not uncomfortable at all and other than the Gator everything is unnoticeable. LOL, ready for about anything. Also, I have 3 of those mini crossbows with a pistol grip. They shoot these bolt arrows almost 400 feet/sec and are deadly accurate and so quiet. They are really cool! I don’t carry it on me, However, I keep 1 in the house, 1 in the car and 1 at my office. I’ve also built up an inventory of over 1500 bolts and building. My 2 boys each have one and they love theirs. The thing I really like about all of these tools is that they are very stealth and ammo is really no issue! In closing, I would like to say that I think it is of the utmost importance that all American citizens exercise their sacred 2nd Amendment Right. Our family does!

  16. No, definitely not alone on this one. I have one I use for opening boxes and other utility needs. Then I have another for self defense should I need it , but I carry a tactical pen, mini flashlight, and some other items in my pockets. The Every Day bag has plenty of other tools. I work in NYC and the boroughs
    a lot.

  17. I totally agree if you carry only one you could drop it or be disarmed . Where does that leave you. No thanks

  18. Your not going crazy Bob, I carry 3 different knives everywhere I go. One is a razor blade knife, the other 2 are the ones I purchased from your company. They are both sprint assist. One one my right. The other in my left. At a time there I were caring the 3 throwing knives I purchased from you. That being said, Do you have a nice boot knife for sale in your awesome arsenal of goods for sale?

  19. I absolutely carry at least 2 knives all the time. One is the Shrade 36, the other the Hoffman Ricther,I also have a Smith&Wesson Black Ops in my pocket. And yes my wife thinks I’m crazy. But should the time ever arrive, well…
    Victory loves prepparation..

  20. You can imagine and prepare as much as you want, BUT…when it comes to the time when you have to use it…..you have to be mentally strong. When you stick someone-in my case it was a hopped up speed freak trying to kill me. No joke. So I stuck him when I ducked under his next haymaker, and he just went completely psycho. So be prepare
    d- the
Qadrenalin rush that goes through a person when they are stabbed is immence- you can’t prepare for that. So make sure that u finish them first. BTW I was charged with attempted murder, but this 6 1/2 foot tall thug decided it was safer for him to not testify. Karma.py

  21. It doesn’t matter what your wife thinks,
    about how you are.
It only depends on 1 person who thinks how
you are, and that person is You!

  22. I am still nervous about carrying ONE knife, but the more I connect with you and your company, the more “knife crazy” I get. It’s a good thing … I think.

  23. My knife looks strangely like a Derringer (45 cal). And yes it gets some surprised looks, but only of respect.

  24. I carry a Glock and 2 extra magazines, and a rescue knife on my person, and I always have a large rescue knife, a fire extinguisher, as well as a fully equipped roadside emergency kit in all my vehicles. After I had to help rescue 3 people out if a burning car in the middle of nowhere, I decided I was going to be better prepared ALWAYS. I am a retired police officer, so I know better than to be out and about unarmed these days.

  25. I COMPLETELY agree for all the reasons you stated. I’ve always wore both knives on my dominate side I’m going to try one on my other side. Really never gave much thought to a boot knife, I will consider that addition. Now my wil think I’m crazy lol.

  26. Not crazy at all, 3 would be paranoid, but 2 is fine, if u in position to pull one, you in a battle for life so why not backup?

  27. I also carry about three of them in different places on me and feel at ease doing so all for different reasons.

  28. When I was a small boy it was common for youngsters to wear a sheath knife. This was quite innocent: It meant they were in the Boy Scouts. That’s changed, and nowadays carrying a knife can get you into serious trouble.

  29. I carry three, one on my right, one on my back and one in my boot, two of the knives,I carry I got from fight fast, damn good blades.

  30. I may not be able to reach my lower limbs, however, I always am wearing more than two knives and personal undetected weapons for protection. I am also having trouble getting videos from emails from all emails received.

  31. I also carry two knives, a lot of times three! Along with the knowledge of how to use them. And I really don’t care what the laws say in the UK or Illinois, I have a responsibility to be able to protect myself and my loved ones, laws be damned!

  32. Bob, great idea. I usually carry one. As the saying goes, “Chance favors the prepared mind”. Plus the scumbags we may face don’t play by the rules why should we. Thanks again for all the great advice.

  33. I think the same way, but I take it to an extreme. I have two knives that are easily accessible, one in both front pockets with belt clips. One down in my front right pocket. One on my Leatherman on my belt and my emergency back up, credit card knife, in my wallet. My wife rolls her eye’s!

  34. I am a retired police I carry mutable of everything never leave home with out it I alway have some source with in arms reach along with my training I’m ready for anything

  35. i have carried a liner lock folder every day and also a pocket knife of various types and sizes, and then i also carry a boot knife when i am going to be any place there could be a crowd. Great idea to have multiple weapons just in case, but it is important to also know how to hold and use them as well, get some training!

  36. Your wife thinks you’re crazy? Show her this. If I’m going beyond the end of my own driveway I’m carrying a folding stiletto with a 6″ blade, a hand-made
fighting knife with a 13.5″ blade, a “credit card’ {very light duty] knife, and perhaps some other one.
    .

  37. I absolutely agree! As a matter of fact, I carry, well actually, four. Yup, my wife thinks I’m nuts too. I carry one each side, then I also carry one of the smaller Victorinox multitools, and a “bear claw” knife.

  38. no you are not crazy i will usually carry three one for utility purposes and one high on body and one low because you never know.
